Prayagraj: A tent vendor for the Kumbh Mela has been charged with fraud worth a whopping Rs 109.85 crore.
The tent vendor in quiz, `Lallooji and Sons`, has been accused of submitting solid funds to the Uttar Pradesh govt defrauding it of quantity to the tune of Rs 109.85 crore.
The funds were for goods offered at some level of Kumbh Mela in the year 2019. The agency has been providing tents, furnishings and loudspeakers for the Maha Kumbh, Kumbh and Magh Mela for decades.
The agency submitted funds worth Rs 196.24 crore between February 2017 and July 6, 2019. Nonetheless, scrutiny showed that handiest funds of Rs 86.38 crore were right, whereas others were solid.
An FIR has been filed at the Daraganj police location in Prayagraj against `Lallooji and Sons`, one in every of the main tent suppliers. The FIR became once registered on a grievance submitted by the then extra Kumbh Mela Officer, Dayanand Prasad.
As many as 11 persons in the agency became once been booked.
The Kumbh Mela Adhikari, Prayagraj Mela Authority, Vijay Kiran Anand said if all funds are taken into epic then virtually Rs 171 crores has been paid to the firm.
“The agency had raised false funds worth crores. If funds made to the agency from all departments are taken into epic, it has been paid around Rs 171 crores,” he told IANS.
The agency has furthermore been blacklisted by the Prayagraj Mela Authority for the following five years.
