Susceptible Ryder Cup participant Peter Alliss, who won 31 tournaments in his occupation sooner than a good stint as a commentator in which he was referred to as the “disclose of golf”, has died on the age of 89, the European Tour said on Sunday.
Englishman Alliss, who was inducted into the World Golf Corridor of Popularity for his products and services to the game in 2012, died peacefully at his dwelling on Saturday, the Tour added in a press begin.
“We’re deeply saddened to listen to of the passing of Peter Alliss, no doubt one of golf`s greats,” European Tour CEO Keith Pelley said.
“Peter made an indelible tag on every part he did in our game, but severely as a participant and a broadcaster, and he leaves a valuable legacy. Our thoughts are with his companion Jackie and the Alliss family.”
Having was knowledgeable on the age of 16 in 1947, Alliss started off as an assistant knowledgeable to his father, extinct golfer Percy Alliss, at Ferndown Golf Membership sooner than occurring to revel in success by making the Ryder Cup squad eight times.
